(300g Arches Aquarelle paper, Faber-Castell Black Polychromos Pencil) The drawing depicts a halved lemon onto which I deliberately applied white paint. My focus lies in the collision between a natural object’s form — the lemon’s organic, textured surface — and an artificial intervention — the paint...

Róbert Ferlindis was born in Hungary - 1994 in the town of Barcs. For several years, he has been consistently and deeply engaged in creating photorealistic and hyperrealistic pencil drawings. Although his affinity for drawing was evident already in childhood, his genuine artistic commitment became clear in adulthood, around 2017. His first significant work was an animal portrait created as a surprise, which proved to be a decisive turning point in his career. In the years that followed, he focused primarily on depicting wildlife, producing numerous works on this theme up until 2024. From 2025 onward, his artistic focus underwent a deliberate shift. Since that period, he has mainly been creating works based on his own concepts, characterized by a strongly surreal tone that serves as a visual imprint of his inner world. Motifs of nature and wildlife remain present in his oeuvre; however, they no longer constitute the central axis of his creative practice. For him, realistic representation is not an end in itself but a means: a precise form of expression requiring a high level of technical discipline, which enables the authentic communication of his inner content, emotional states, and layers of thought. Consequently, the use of black pencil is not merely a technical choice but a conscious emotional and conceptual decision. The monochrome visual language is closely aligned with his personality and worldview; through this form, his melancholic and introspective perspective finds its most honest expression in his drawings. His artistic aim is for his works not only to provide a visual experience but also to prompt reflection, offering insight into an inner world where elements of reality and surrealism are tightly interwoven, opening up new possibilities of interpretation.
