This intuitive abstract ink drawing has been developed into a giclee print using archival inks on Hahnemühle German Etching paper. The giclee print was then mounted onto a deep cradled wooden panel, and sealed with art grade high gloss resin.

The original drawing is part of a series of four, each piece working individually or as a group. The mark making was built up intuitively in layers over a period of time: each subsequent layer was washed, scraped back, abraded until only traces remained. What does remains is in the spirit of wabi-sabi, embracing the beauty of time worn surfaces and an appreciation of the transience of life. The high gloss resin finish not only seals and protects the artwork, but creates a pleasingly incongruous textural contrast.

This artwork is ready to hang and does not require a frame.

British artist currently living in Bavaria, Germany. I love to mix materials and processes in an exploratory way, drawing on my formal training in constructed textile design (BA Hons) and further studies in both classical and contemporary painting methods. Working with a mainly neutral colour palette, I explore textural effects, intuitive mark making and manipulation of materials to create abstract mixed media artworks. Find me on Instagram to see more about my art making process.
