Amsterdam Drawing

While on holiday in Amsterdam I was inspired by the beautiful narrow houses that surrounded the canals. The deep history of Amsterdam and the distinct architecture compelled me to create a piece based on the day to day life I saw before me. My media of choice is ink drawings because I feel the simplicity of the classic fine liner pen allows both fine details that add individuality and sweeping shapes that only hint at the true object they represent leading to a focus on the aspects of the image that I as the artist choose. All my pieces are created using lightfast fine liner pens on smooth finish paper that has been handmade in the UK. The art piece is on A4 paper but only takes up the very centre of the page as represented in the image.
