Dušica Pejić (1976) is an artist living and working in Belgrade, Serbia. Dušica Pejić's gestural painting language is to some extent based on the tradition of analytical and lyrical abstraction and action painting, on her commitment to calligraphy, but also on many years of expressive dance practice. She possesses a self-reflexive attitude and a desire to move away from the expressive and representational plane towards the metalinguistics, exploring the essence of art as a game and as a method of reconnection of spontaneous-unconscious and analytical-structural. Pejić's painting structure comes directly from her kinetic experience of movement, which she transfers to the canvas. Pejić has finished undergraduate and graduate studies and holds an MA degree at the Department of Painting, Art Academy in Novi Sad, Serbia. She has also finished specialist studies at the Department of Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, Serbia. Dušica Pejić was established as one of the eight most distinguished authors in Serbia who are of an abstract orientation, for the period starting after the year 2000.
