About The Artwork

Gabriella’s Slime Series was inspired by the fruit and vegetables she had at home during the 2021 Covid-19 Lockdowns. She didn’t just want to draw a classic realistic still life, she wanted to explore ways to enhance, disrupt and uncover the sensuality in everyday objects. The Slime Series consists of 7 iconic works. The banana was the sixth work in the Series. Gabriella wanted this to be linked to an emoji, and really, it just had to be a banana! Limited edition print. (Run of 20)

Gabriella Anouk is a British / Dutch contemporary artist practicing hyperrealism drawing using coloring pencils. She merges several styles including fine art, photorealism, surrealism and pop art. Her work is influenced by shine and sculpture-like objects and distorting them in her own way. Be it through the use of slime or plastic as references, or playing with scale, it is hard to believe her work is a drawing! A big lover of Dalí's absurd and surreal style, Gabriella says, "The juxtaposition of a beautiful, natural piece of fruit against synthetic, almost vulgar, shiny slime is so attractive and interesting to me." Because Gabriella's drawings are created with so much control and are practicing the genre of hyperrealism she says, "it’s important to me that the actual subject I’m drawing isn’t controlled and has an element of disruption and chaos." Gabriella has developed her creativity across social media platforms and is influential and inspirational introducing many of her 500k followers to art for the first time, whilst sharing the development of her practice. She has an international profile with collectors in New York, Florida, Dallas, Hong Kong, Paris, London and Dubai.
