Between the Rocks Drawing

Lesedi is a Johannesburg-based artist whose work explores themes of memory, identity, and social justice, with a particular focus on the forgotten narratives of South Africa’s rural communities. Drawing inspiration from the landscapes and schools of Mpumalanga, his artwork brings to life the stories of children who are often left behind by the country’s education system. Through a combination of expressive brushstrokes, texture, and vibrant color, Lesedi creates visual narratives that confront the challenges of access, opportunity, and hope. Lesedi’s practice is deeply rooted in a desire to shed light on the social disparities faced by underrepresented communities.
