Viviane Silvera is an award-winning painter and filmmaker whose work explores the intersection of memory, trauma, and healing through art. She is the creator of See Memory, a groundbreaking animated documentary composed of 30,000 hand-painted frames, which is currently airing nationwide on PBS. The film visualizes the neuroscience of memory and PTSD through her distinctive painting style, blending science and storytelling in an emotionally resonant way. See Memory has been featured by the UCLA Semel Institute, The Friedman Brain Institute, and The Imagine Science Film Festival, and is being used as a teaching tool by educators, therapists, and neuroscientists across the country. Silvera is the recipient of the Award of Excellence in Painting from the Edward Hopper House, as well as grants and accolades from the Chaim Gross Foundation, Newington-Cropsey Foundation, and Fantasy Foundation. Her paintings have been exhibited at Art Basel Miami, Berlin Art Week, and in the permanent collections of Tufts, Duke, and Vanderbilt Universities, among others. Based in New York, her work invites viewers to reflect on the fluid nature of perception, memory, and identity—and the potential for personal transformation through art.
