Slightly built like any cur, With a cut under his eye, A sign of many battles fought On streets where the weak die. He did not seem to care For company or for food. A nasty stab on his paw Drove him to a surly mood. I’d share with him often He’d limp with a shaky gait. Soldiering on through pain With tenacity innate Daily as I’d see him. His pain he’d doggedly flout. His spirit silently asking: What the hell’ya complaining about?
