"Coat of Arms with Dragons? and Lions? on a White Field”

This motif was found on a white silk robe for a (Chinese?) noble man.
Much about it’s history is still unclear. It was found 1922 on the occasion of the liquidation of the household of an old Chinese cook in the Los Angeles area with no hint of its provenance.
Nowadays the robe is in a private collection.
