About the Artist

Hanns Leeb considers himself selftaught. He comes from Expressionism and developed a romantic-poetical painting style in which he unites the condition of soul and the meaning of the landscape into a complete contemplative picture. Numerous of the coloured and black and white drawings of his collection "Bejeweled Women" had their origin in a graphic series "Vernissage". These pictures show - in addition to other many-sided basic themes - the woman as the center point of society and as its victim as well. The female figures in "Bejeweled Women" have freed themselves from these labels and are presented by the artist in a series of numerous paintings which show various types of styles.
Several citations which were written about the exhibit "The Bejeweled Woman" shown in 1998 in Landshut, Germany:
"These exquisite jewels of graphic arts are pervaded by a delicate and subtle erotic spirit."
"The artist has given the women in his nudes a remarkable variety of jewels and costumes with imbelievable fantasy."
"In many sketches, drawings and ball pen drawings with watercolor additions, girls and women are shown as beautiful, selfconfident innocents of fantasy on paper."
