ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I could quote Sinatra but instead;)... I just want to say that this piece was specifically done for my sister and her family. I would have bet my bottom dollar I would receive a request for a christmas present. So I had already completed the piece and planned to send it to her as a gift when lists were exchanged. I really wanted to do something a little different on this one. I wanted to really capture how Chicago is rarely shut down thanks to masses of culture and sometimes wild weather. For the first time I have included cloud formations to help capture that feeling. My sister's family have had the time of their life living on that great street. And despite growing up in Metro Detroit, Chicago is their hometown.

Grew up in Detroit, spent 18 years in Columbus, Ohio, lived abroad outside London, UK, and now live in the metro Chicago area. Always drawing, I learned to paint in high school with a focus in watercolor. With a landscape architecture degree from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Capital University, I put my abilities to work in designing and constructing golf courses and countless gardens. Eventually I transitioned into creating marketing campaigns for a major US insurance carrier. I began painting again a few years back to help encourage my children’s creativity. When my family was given the opportunity to move outside London, I decided it was time to take my work public. My work is inspired by my experiences. More importantly, I am trying to share those experiences through my work. While in receiving my Landscape Architecture degree, I learned to design using the genius loci, or spirit of place. I want that spirit to come out in my art. The choice of subjects is based on a passion for my interests. I work in many different mediums and styles. I love the challenge of trying something new, which is reflected in the diversity of work.
