Even realism hides a lot of character, artistic notes, and feelings that differ from reality. It reflects notes of reality but in an odd way. It make it both simple and complex at the same time. I truly believe that realism in a drawing offers a deeper image that allows the viewer to extract more feelings than just a photograph. It might be the smoothness of the charcoals on the paper, or the cloudy notes of graphite.. We sometimes look at a drawing that is black and white, and think of two colors only. It is crazy to imagine the infinite amount of shades available from white to black, and charcoals are allowing every mind to travel through all these shades, although thinking it is just black and white... This is where the magic is, this is the illusion, this is why each viewer can extract all these feelings.
