About The Artwork

The octopus appears in many island creation myths and is a source of constant speculation within the scientific community. As one question is answered regarding its origin, man more questions result. As an extremely intelligent and physically developed animal, its death after giving birth, and therefore the inability to pass on learned behaviour to its offsprings, has resulted in an evolutionary paralysis.

I am an artist specializing in painting, etching and drawing. My works reflect on the struggle between the need to distance ourselves from our animalistic, primitive nature (or dominate it), and the inherent desire for contact with it.
