My work revolves around reaching infinity and my fascination with the void, emptiness alone. I am addressing the notion of visibility itself through the use of subtle tonal shifts throughout my drawings. I have treated the canvas and paper I use to somewhat restore the ending of the finished piece of work to that of the empty page appearing unworked until the highly worked surface is revealed closeup. Luring viewers closer to the surface and natural tendencies of my materials is important to reveal the intense time-induced processes I have made use of. I intended to mirror the slow transformation of coal to diamond in my graphite drawings followed closely by my translucent diamond-like painting. The obsessive, persistent nature of the drawings is revealed as I explore nothingness in an infinite way in order to illustrate time itself. I have made use of light-emitting materials which work in a time-specific way; only visible in certain light conditions engaging viewers and stimulating the eyes almost hypnotically. My subtle, careful use of gold reveals my fascination with the unobtainable. In the golden section series there are over one million entirely unique, individual lines contained within each drawing.
