About The Artwork

Lou Paure Satan, The trial of the blind organ grinder and his blind monkey, or Song for Satan, is part of a series of works by Zero Baby, where the central image is a personality associated with Depression Era crime. The works are not portraits of the individuals and neither do they glorify them. As seen here Al Capone is set in an unreal but based on real artefacts situation, where each aspect is subject to the others, in a style on the frontier where primitive meets surreal and super-real. The ocean swells above a 15th Century court, presided over by Al Capone. Domitolio the blind organ grinder and his blind monkey are on trial for heresy. A jury deliberates the case by diving on a table. The accused are found guilty and sentenced to death. They are given a tall yellow candle and conical hats to signify them as heretics. They are led away to be burned playing an Austrian polka. Graphite on 130 gsm cartridge
