About The Artwork
Drawing is about (in part) recreating perception. There are two funny things happening here. 1. Your brain loves to group things together by a number of qualities, Things that are the same (color, textures, value, patterns, you name it, and things that are diffrent. So in the back ground I have rows of alternating white and black bricks. Unless my brain is the only one that does this you should link these bricks together. ok trick 2. Lines that are straight appear flat, whilst lines that are curved appear round. The result: It is unclear if the set of white bricks running though her lower legs are in front of or behind her legs, and they almost have a 3D effect because of the conflicting straight and curved lines in contrast to each other.
