About The Artwork

Title: Memory Sculpture: Indian Diary. (Indisches Tagebuch.) Size: 50 x 70 cm Year: 2019 This work “Memory Sculpture: Indian Diary." (Indisches Tagebuch; 2019, 50 x 70 cm) gathers the Memory Sculpture drawings made as a diary during a research stay (2018-2019) in India. Some of these works can also be seen in the award-winning experimental short film "Love - A Memory Sculpture" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12404784/). It is located at the interface between Philosophy, Psychology, and the Fine Arts. More generally “Memory Sculptures” are performative compositions which translate psychic processes into direct physical actions on paper. Based on a symbol-language the displayed drawings act as thinking tools to design an internal architecture of sculptural memory. This work is signed on the reverse and provided with a work stamp as well as an artist stamp with information about the materials, year of creation, title, size etc.

Mersolis Schöne is a German Artist, Film Director, and Researcher based in Vienna, Austria. He is a member of Künstlerhaus Wien in Austria, The Professional Association of Visual Artists in Germany, and other associations. His works "Memory Sculptures" (Gedächtnisskulpturen) presented at Saatchi Art are based on a symbol-language. The displayed drawings act as thinking tools to design an internal architecture of sculptural memory. Have you ever thought about what our lives would be like if we treated our memories like sculptures? That's the question at the heart of the "Memory Sculpture" ("Gedächtnisskulptur") concept. The process of creation varies, on the one hand there are interactive performative settings in exchange with other artists (e.g. from the fields of music, literature, film, performance), where the works are created during the performative exchange. On the other hand, there are clearly defined symbol formations that are developed over months and years.
