About The Artwork

Title: Memory Sculpture: The Sound of my Silent Thoughts Size: 29,5 x 34 cm Year: 2019 What would our lives look like, if we worked on our memories like they were sculptures? That is the initial question behind the concept of "Memory Sculpture" ("Gedächtnisskulptur.") This work “Memory Sculpture: The Sound of my Silent Thoughts" (2019, 29,5 x 34 cm) is located at the interface between Philosophy, Psychology, and the Fine Arts. The work is based on several poems written in Hindi and read personally by their author, the Indian actress, performance artist, and poet Savita Rani. List of read poems: "Calculated Life," "Her's Solitude," "Desire!," "Thoughts," "Experiences within Daily Life," "My Private Capital," "Comparison between two Humans," "Tired Human Being," "Childhood Memories of Brother," "Childhood Female Friends". The drawings are thinking tools based on a symbolic language. As material and symbol formations, they document the performative thought process. "Memory Sculpture Drawings" are the medium to design an internal architecture of sculptural memory. This work is signed on the reverse and provided with a work stamp as well as an artist stamp with information about the materials, year of creation, title, size etc.

Mersolis Schöne is a German artist, researcher, and filmmaker based in Vienna, Austria. He is working on the link between Philosophy, Psychology, and the Fine Arts to explore i.e. the thinking process as well as the concept of memory. His work combines techniques like writing, film, drawing, performance, and installation. On Saatchi Art he is showing a part of the "Memory Sculpture" (Gedächtnisskulptur) project. “Memory Sculpture” drawings are performative compositions which translate psychic processes into direct physical actions on paper. Based on a symbol-language the displayed drawings act as thinking tools to design an internal architecture of sculptural memory.
