About The Artwork
Everything that can be seen can be broken down into shapes and colours. My paintings and drawings break down the visual and simplify it into shapes then fragmenting and merging them to produce an abstract image. Everything used can be broken down to the materials they are made from. I have collected discarded items found on the side of the road and used them as a painting surface bringing attention the part each item may have played during its life. The artwork I produce is a reaction to the objects I find, I work with the object rather than against it. My titles are given to the work based on how I'm feeling at the time rather than the actual painting. The title may come from what was going through my head while making the work or even just at the point of naming it. I feel like it may give the viewer a small insight into my life, like an invitation into my studio at that point in time.

After a long an uneventful career in administration I decided to give it all up and go to art school. I mostly paint on found objects, picking up things I find on the side of the road that other people don't want. This gives my work a unique and unpredictable element to it. The painting I produce relies on the surface I have so I react to each object I find differently. I work part time to pay my rent so I don't have to rely on my painting for financial support which gives me the freedom to take my art in any direction I feel necessary for my own development.
