Born in Madisonville Ky. USA 1956 Living and working as a full time artist in SF CA. I've been drawing and painting since I was very young .I get excited like a little kid with a new box of colors, when a new drawing or painting comes to life. I feel that I know little about the direction I'm going. In some ways this is good, to remain teachable, open to new ways of seeing. I am very eclectic in my view of making art. My taste of others art is very broad, I've had many influences in my life,I am always looking for new artists to add to my experience. I don't want to pigeonhole myself in a style that describes an assemblage of a finished product, that becomes as laborious as a jigsaw puzzle. I want my art to be more than merely aesthetic. So I believe this takes thinking and looking for a direction, setting goals and making plans but still allowing room for the accident. The accident can be such a spontaneous segue into a new way of seeing. The longer I paint and draw, whether it be realistic or abstract, the more I see the self fall onto the page, this is want dictates the direction. There is a spiritual element here I can't put into words.Making art can often be such a struggle sometimes unbearably so; but the struggle has great merit. I find it far less painful to participate in the process of making art than not.
