Olurombi keeps her promise. Drawing

My ink drawing on off-white Bristol paper. It has a 1 inch white border around it for framing. Olurombi: The African Folklore of Olurombi describes a woman who gave her only child as a promise to her village diety if the floods stop ravaging and the pestilence ends. Everyone else promised cattle or crops which they threw into the river so it would stop overflowing its banks... but she in her over-enthusiasm promised her child. Unfortunately, she had to keep her rash promise even after she regretted it. The river spirits accepted their sacrifices and it never overflowed its banks again. Her child became a much feared river goddess which childless women implored to be given the fruit of the womb. The poem is well known by the Yorubas of West Africa. .....
