About The Artwork

An old wall view from the streets of Ayvalık. Aged, lived textures attract my attention. To give information about these houses; Almost all of the buildings in Ayvalık and its surroundings have distinctive and common architectural features. The building material is garlic stone, that is, lime that has been extinguished over the years and left to rest in pits. Quality brick, iron, lead and timber produced in Yeniceri Village with its former name and in Kucukkoy with its current name are the basic materials that ensure the survival of the buildings in Ayvalık. Ayvalık houses with a history of 100-150 years have been taken under protection by the Board of Monuments. Neoclassical structures, most of which are registered, carry the beautiful harmony of pink-colored garlic stone and wood. The buildings are usually two or three stories high. The ground floor serves as a workshop. The middle floors are mostly for winter and the upper floors are for summer. All of them are healthy buildings made with local materials in the most suitable way for the climate of the region. Ayvalık houses usually have two entrance doors. One of them opens to the section used as a workshop, and the other opens to the sitting area. The workshop is also used as a shop from time to time. Doors add splendor to simple and plain-looking structures with their arched form and craftsmanship. The elegant metalwork on the doors and the variety of elegance in the doorknobs are a unique value for Ayvalık houses. Summer houses, mansions and villas in the Çamlık region, built at the beginning of the 19th century, stand upright with their justified beauty among today's concrete buildings.

I graduated from Istanbul Mimar Sinan University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Textile. In my business life, I turned to fashion design. In this regard, I worked as a designer and creative director in domestic and international clothing companies. In my professional life, I worked with watercolor, charcoal technique and various software especially in my designs. I am still working on painting by combining my academic education with my long years of designer experience. Ancient civilizations, cities, nature and abstract subjects, which are among the historical riches of our country, occupy an important place in my watercolor and charcoal painting works. The details, together with the general harmony in the compositions, attract my attention and are effective in my works. With these works, I took part in various exhibitions and organizations. After the annoying pandemic process that affects us all, participation in these organizations and exhibitions is starting again professionally.
