Found the block of wood along the bank of the Tolka River, Dublin. There too a swan balancing itself like a tea cup. The only drawing tool I had was a black felt pen and a blue highlighter. Image on either side. It hangs by a string also found along the shore.

Mark Gerula Canadian, born 1959, resident in Finland for the last decade.
I was raised in Calgary, Canada on the eastern edge of the Prairies with the magnificent Rockies in view to the west. My upbringing in this setting is a significant ingredient in how I see art and the world around me.
The focal point of my current artwork is poetics, with the disquiet of human attributes such as grace, kindness and honesty as primary elements. To entice and embrace the viewer it is infused with a sense of play and novelty. The work comes to life as objects, which I call assemblages'. My artistic intention is to share my view on life while giving the observer a fresh point to assemble their own thoughts about art and life.
