In the spirit of informal painting, the process of creating my pictures is not subject to any rigid rules, rather it follows the subconscious. A mixture of coincidence and necessity in the painting process, accompanied again and again by long phases of looking, leads to a drawing or painting decision. I become an observer, at the same time allowing perceptions from the environment to flow in. Struggling and quarreling about artistic questions is inherent in my paintings. The finished painting is the result of development. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the desire for reduction has arisen more and more often and I am looking for the essence. The necessary slowing down doesn't correspond to my nature at all, but that's the only way I can get closer to my goal, namely sorting out the unessential and concentrating on what mustn't be lost.
