"Space Puppy Diva" Drawing

Kathleen King is an artist living and working in Chicago. She has taught studio drawing and watercolor classes as a visiting adjunct professor at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea, July-Aug.2007-13. Source materials referencing Ms. King's work are derived from botanical fragments and computer manipulation of these hand altered plant cast-offs. These materials, in turn, are re-presented in the final mixed media paintings, drawings and most recently, 3D prints and bronze castings by recording the realistic botanical models and digital printouts with direct observational drawing/painting,intermixed with improvisational drawing/painting and sculptural passages. The balance between abstraction and realism allows Ms. King to infuse to her "scientific" recordings of the outer natural world with internalized musings about the totemic "Divas" and "Dragons".
