View in a Room ArtworkView in a Room Background
Oak gall ink on Cotton Organdie.

My interest in internal and external spaces has led me to draw the Showroom collection in the first place. This particular image does present a clear image of a staircase. But because the view is right from the front it becomes a series of lines running across with objects placed as if on conveyer belt...

By using loose free-hand tiny brush strokes I trace the objects but never really capture true images as if it was a story imagined in one’s mind... It is a similar experience after one finishes reading a book: an image is created in one’s mind but it is never completely realistic and appears uncertain or even distorted.

The use of monochrome ink confirms the scene is only a fragment in time, but knowing that I use my own homemade Oak-gall ink brings some warmth and care to that almost transparent and almost untangible image set on the light cream and airy cotton.
