About The Artwork
The creation of this artwork developed after considering my studio practice of urban development vs. memory of the black land prairie in my area. I had found a grouping of native grasses with some leaves shaped like fish scales and in brilliant color. The rendering of maps and roads is as in most of my artwork but the color quickly became the focal point. Media includes pen, ink, paint, colored pencil, collage, and marker. Shipping is calculated on the size of the artwork, in this instance the work will be sent in a flat box with the corners protected. It is difficult to send an artwork framed, particularly with glass. Since the shipping charged is more than the cost for the buyer, I have adjusted the price of the artwork to reflect a cost of shipping to $15 per piece, vs. $45. I have been stitching on fabric for the past twenty years. For me, the stitched line is as seductive as a drawn line; it can speak softly or have a strong presence. In the past few years, I have transitioned that line to paper using various media. I still find that line, in its many forms, is the starting and ending point for my artwork. In 2008 I received my MFA in studio art from the University of North Texas. I taught 2D and 3D design for 8 years. The influence of my professors and fellow students, and well as the students I taught, has contributed to my developing art practice.
