The aim of this project was creating a sketchbook that demonstrates the great Renaissance master’s genius as an inventor, engineer and scientist who was ahead of his time. I wanted to create it in a way of the 500-year-old codex and drawings that reveal the extraordinary creative imagination of Leonardo da Vinci.
All replicas of da Vinci’s sketches are drawn by hand with an old nib pen. To create the antique looking drawings I used thick instant coffee solution instead of ink.
The concept of the sketchbook is also closely connected with fashion. As I was a fashion student while creating this artwork in 2009.
Materials: tracing paper, veneer, technical drawings, varnish, instant coffee solution as a technique of old-looking paper, masking tape, trimmings, paper, cards, plastic.
