My work is heavily influenced by my own struggles with mental health and addiction. This piece explores the feelings around needing to stand out, for good or bad. The colorfulness of that crown depended on the environment I was in or the people I was around. I could never find a crown that was just ...

wow, where do I start? ok, so my name is Stace DeWolf, I live in Kamloops BC , Canada. I am married to an amazing woman and through our crazy blended family I have 6 kids and another one on the way. I know, I have heard it all before, that is crazy, have you heard of birth control etc , etc, etc. Truth is I always wanted a large family , I love it!! I have 5 wonderful boys and we finally got our little angel. 5 boys and 1 girl and we are leaving this one a surprise. I hope its another girl. After having boys my daughter is a breath of fresh air. Im not saying my boys are less but Im going to be honest, boys are insane! I work for the railway as a Conductor. Its a good job with a lousy schedule which makes having a life somewhat problematic but that is another discussion. The beauty thing about train rides is I have a lot of time to think about life, new ideas for paintings or drawings and the scenery isn't half bad either. I have a small studio in my home and man that space is super important. When I need to get away or just let loose after a bad day its incredibly calming to have a space I can go to. I try really hard to balance life and my passion with art. I do not always find the time but when I do its certainly not wasted. I have been drawing since the age of 4, so I have been told and I haven't stopped. Creating and pouring my soul into my work is such a hard feeling to explain. Its like i have an internal compass fixed entirely at a creative direction. I have no choice but to follow. I am an expressionist at heart. The German expressionists Max Ernst and Max Beckman , Otto Dix were big influences. Francis Bacon, Salvador Dali, Picasso, Rembrandt , Albrect Durer , Bosch were also big influences. I try to express myself through my use of color. I am trying to connect with the viewer through my work. I try to get a reaction emotionally. I believe that art should punch you in the stomach , make you feel sick, happy , sad. Art should move you and that is what I am trying to do and continue to do. I hope you enjoy my work and i look forward to any questions or comments you might have. Please reach out. Thank you for your time, Stace DeWolf
