Transformation Drawing

Transformation is part of a series of works based on Dublin City.It is on Fabriano paper, materials used are spraypaint, pen, pencil and ink. It is an investigation into the urban landscape and the structures and infrastructures that facilitate and influence our lives. The urban landscape is constantly changing, and I find myself returning with amazement to how people move within this environment and how it affects them both physically and psychologically. The start of my process is as a researcher, photographing, sketching, collecting maps and experiencing the landscape by walking within it. I examine its architecture, geometry and how it makes me feel, I aim to connect with the landscape. In my paintings and drawings these basic structures are manipulated, layered, reconstructed and exaggerated to convey a sense of wonder and vertigo that we face in the urban landscape of today. Through my work a space is created for the viewer to enjoy, connect, construct and deconstruct using their own personal experiences.
