ABOUT THE ARTWORK

朱雀 Suzaku: One of the guardians of the 4 directions in ancient Chinese folklore. A mythical bird protecting threats from the south. This creature also plays an important part in Japanese folklore. It has been featured in countless haiku poems and can be seen on many temples and shrines around Japan. This piece pays homage to the ancient tradition and rich storytelling that came from China, enriching Japan's already unique culture. Written in a pictograph style with bold black lines. The calligraphy stands thick and strong, as one would expect from a guardian. * Excellent condition * Wet-mounted, cloth matting, wood frame with acrylic cover * Piece comes professionally framed inside a padded box * Proof of authenticity will be included with the shipment
