"C" Drawing

Simon Riley started as a Community Artist for Liverpool City Council where he was tasked with brightening up old peoples' homes and the city's less attractive areas by creating large murals of the town's popular views, sometimes adding his own small flourishes such as a streaker, or someone throwing up in a gutter. He then went on to study at St. Martins school of art whilst also becoming a pavement artist, chalking old masters on to chewing gum splattered paving slabs all over the UK. Afterwards, he then went on to spend several years in advertising making TV commercials and trails for the BBC before going into film making where he was shortlisted for a BAFTA. But it wasn't until after a serious illness that he started painting and drawing, often producing dark, intense, cathartic portraits. Simon is currently based in London.
