This panel in red crayon on a spray textured and gray painted panel that looks best when paired with the similarly prepared panel but marked with a black crayon. They are part of an ongoing project of mine which is to find ways to make art presentations with the least amount of materials and the least amount of marking using the simplest of marking gestures but that evoke some kind of emotional, aesthetic response. This is hard! The danger is to end up with nothing which has happened all too often. I like to think these two panel s together or alone work in that minimalist way as I hope and think the other works in this portfolio also work. I like to think the drawings in this body of work as elegant, only slightly aggressive, quiet never-the-less assertive. I became interested in minimalist art one afternoon at MOMA way back in the 60's which is when I first encountered the work of Ad Reinhardt. Please excuse bad photography. There is no blue in the drawing.
