About The Artwork
This is a second drawing carried out in exactly the same manner as the adjacent work in red crayon. As suggested there, the work is part of an on-going exploration of minimalism. In this endeavor, I'm trying to achieve some kind of aesthetic and emotional response with as little means as possible. That, I think, is the sum of minimalism. The two works together work better than either one alone. For this, see next photo.

I am an 84 year-old man living in Portland, Maine with my wife of 51 years on a wharf. So my days are accompanied by complaining seagulls and the sounds of a busy port. I love it. I taught art at the University of Connecticut for 27 years which includes spending 7 years as the Department's head. I retired in 1997 to Maine, "the way life should be" as the Maine Chamber saying goes. I also spent 10 years in the business world In NYC.
