ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is series of drawings and paintings which I started after an eye operation. Because I had to take care of my eye I started painting in the dark or with my eyes closed. I had previously also started to draw with my non-dominant hand (to unlock the subconscious), in one endless line and finally I created a technique by using 2 pencils at the same time. Sometimes I am adding colour the next day, in some cases I am starting with a coloured background, not knowing what my subconscious mind will draw on it in the subsequent night. Here in this drawing there is a self-portrait in an emotional separated state.

My current life started in Vienna, Austria, in a multi-cultural environment which provided for me a perfect ground for refining a diversity of interests. Through my PhD thesis in marine biology I could give scientific sense to my ecosystem vision, my post-grad study in Japan introduced me into east-asian culture, the many years of martial arts training guided me to integrate asian philosophy into my life, my work with indigenous people in Siberia and in Western Africa made me recognise the interconnectedness of all and made me understand that we are all one. Out of this professional framework i started to get interested in the role and the dynamics of vital energy which ultimately lead me into the holistic healing arena. Out of my martial arts background, my love for body work and movement, my scientific basis in the organisation and functioning of life, my link to Japan, my compassion for the suffering of beings and my vocation for healing I undertook my shiatsu training in Bristol, UK. Apart from workshops with my calligraphy teacher Kaz Tanahashi, with the sculptress Martine Vaugel and recent online teachers like the psychologist and artist Nancy Hillis I am an auto-didact. I like to experiment with different media and materials. Recent development: I studied at the prestigous Art University of Toulon from 2018 to 2019. healingarts - calligraphy: My calligraphies are inspired by nature, healing experiences and my own life. The calligraphies are one-stroke brushworks which are fuelled by my respiration and my emotions. For me it feels like a dance. The movement of the brush originates somewhere in space, long before it touches the paper and it continues its movement after the visible end of the character. healingarts - paintings: Inspired by the teachings of C.G.Jung, the mysteries of alchemy and the miracle of the moment my paintings try to visualise whatever urges for expression. Often they originate in dreams or in emotional states. They are fuelled by curiosity and playfulness, I dare to take risks, they help me to question myself and the world around me. healingarts - sculptures: Working in clay for me means touching the Earth, which is my home, my base, my nourishment, the centre, the hearth, the place symbolising birth and death, origin and decay – thus embodying both past and future.
