ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The series “Source Code: Archives” is the author's reflection on the impact of the endless flow of information on human beings. There is more and more data, and its importance is devalued every second. Abstract videos with glitch, broken pixels - this is a metaphor for the “overload” that occurs in people's heads. A person begins to forget important things, absorbing new, not always “necessary”, information. All communication has gone digital. All communication is remote. “Today, information surrounds us everywhere, it is hard to hide from it. We are overloaded. On the one hand, I find the importance of technological progress. But at the same time, I try to control the information I consume, weeding out anything that I find superfluous, useless. A balance is necessary. Everything I like (music, videos, photos) I structure and save in my personal archives. These archives are the artifact that preserves the value of my memories. In each object in the series, only one source of memory remains. I processed my memories (images, photos from my personal archives, favorite music) into abstract videos. This is important to me: something I want to share, something I want to remember.” The works are assembled from old server cases with TFT screens in the center, all of which emphasizes the author's love for technical aesthetics and working with industrial design objects.

Leonid Tyaptin is a multidisciplinary artist. Leonid creates canvases, assemblages, multiscale installations. The style of Leonid's works is urban and industrial design, technical aesthetics, highlighting the beauty of composition in small, unremarkable at first glance objects of industrial design. "Today I am interested in creating canvases and installations using non-standard effects and specialized paints (reflective, phosphor, fluorescent, etc.). They add volume and multilayeredness, which are revealed in a certain light and perspective. Parts of the works are only visible when using UV lamps, flash light. Now I am working on dynamic installations with lasers and lights."
