About The Artwork

Frame(s) in rectangle. Spanish title:(Cuadro(s) en rectángulo) Light Draw series. Description: Two pieces 50x 50 cm each one, and a white vinyl 100 x 50 cm. Total dimensions: 200 x 50 cm The space acts as an additional element, actively, in this piece becomes part of the wall through adhesive vinyl, highlighting the overall dimensions of the work, containing the surface located between the two boxes 50 x 50 cm . The frame become light box, refers to the pictorial component present and have always tried to emphasize his qualities as wood grain treated with gesso so that materials are considered a "stand" in the pictorial tradition are here also the protagonists of the work. In the first phase I drew vertical rectangular strips, using technical incisions produced by a needle, on sheets of foam board, all of them stood at the inner edges of each of the pictures. Later I prepared the electric installation of LED lights, putting on the back of each of the racks lighting in the right places, in accordance with the drawing. The geometry created in each piece connects the vertical arrangement of rectangular strips of each of the tables and allows expanding the narrow space reflection of the pictures beyond the area occupied. The intention is that the wall acts as support and link all elements involved in the work. In this case, all it built from each of the components of the set. The result is a large-format drawing whose only "traces"; various points of light and wood structures that shape and define the contours, interacting with each other and taking the specific characteristics of space. Now is in a collective exhibition: "Experimenta 10+1" Marcos Valcárcel Cultural Center. Ourense. Spain

I'm a visual artist from Spain, now living and working between two places, Barcelona and Vilalba (Lugo). I am interested in working with the structural elements of painting to create an image that extends beyond the frame edges. I use the wall as a large canvas on which I place in different media and formats to take advantage of specific space characteristics. The painting in this way makes the viewer see the wall as a part of it. At this moment I have two projects in progress: The first one called "Drawing" is a project where I use different kinds of paper and foam board to make pictures without using traditional drawing materials. I draw different ideas and structures drawn with a fine needle.Sometimes I draw with white and black thread and an invisible nylon too. In the second project called "Light", I use LED lights in the pictures, to create paintings to make a dialogue with the space in which the different shades of light creates an extension of the picture outside the frame. Wood frames, foam board on the surface and light within the painting, are the three basic elements that used to work. I believe that a picture is better than words.
