Mon arbre à souhaits Installation 100 morceaux de papier Xuan découpés à la main dimensions variables Juillet 2017 Cette installation in situ est présentée pour la première fois dans le contexte du Musée Bruck. Depuis plusieurs mois, cette œuvre trottait dans ma tête, floue, lancinante et timide, jusqu’à ce qu’une de mes étudiantes m’envoie une photo d’un paysage japonais et là, tout s’est mis en place… les souvenirs de mon enfance chez ma grand-mère, la glycine sous laquelle je m’abritais l’été, et ce monde protégé qui était la cour où je jouais. Les motifs utilisés pour cette œuvre sont créés à partir de medium acrylique appliqué sur une feuille de plastique; je couvre la feuille d’une calligraphie abstraite, qui est la base des motifs que j’utilise pour jouer avec l’espace. C’est au cours de mon 4e séjour en Chine, en juillet 2017, que j’ai découpé mes papiers, suivant ces motifs abstraits. Mes journées ont donc été ponctuées de pliage de papiers et de manipulation d’X-acto, pour finalement revenir à Montréal avec une centaine de papiers que j’ai ensuite colorés.

Born in the South of France, Francoise Issaly dreamed about moving to Canada when she was a teenager and was always attracted to Asia, and China in particular. She graduated from University Paul Valery in Montpellier, and University Michel de Montaigne in Bordeaux, France, where she obtained a DEUG in Plastic Arts, a Licence and a Master in Visual Arts, followed by a D.E.A. in with a mention in “Communication, Arts & Spectacle”, Françoise Issaly did 3 years of research for her Ph.D. before moving to Canada in 1993. For more than 20 years she has been involved in the Visual Arts scene as a professional artist (she is a Member of the RAAV/CARFAC since 1996, member of the SODRAC, and registered at ARTEXTE), as a art instructor (She taught as a secondary art instructor in France, then to adults at the Visual Art Center, University of Montreal, and The Montreal Fine Art Museum), and as the editor of her own publishing house, Editions FrI, focusing on Artist books, since 2009. She has shown her work both in solo and group shows in Quebec (Canada), USA, France, Germany, and Malaysia and China. Her work can be found in many private collections around the world. Since 2014, she was invited to do several Artists Residencies (the Vermont Studio Centre in Vermont USA, Chinese European Art Center in Xiamen, Untitled in Shanghai). Today she is living and working in Shanghai, China and still maintain her studio in Montreal, Canada. A prolific artist, she focuses on her art while she is teaching art to Chinese students.
