"Neoliberal Monopoly" is a criticism of free-market capitalism, which has taken the classic game of Monopoly to its logical conclusion. The wealth is held in the hands of the 1%, while the meager dwellings of the poor are discernible by their small size and thatched roofs. The installation is a retrofitted, vintage Monopoly board game enclosed in a gold-leaf frame with built in lighting. Signed by the artist.

Michael Wiebach is a Mexican-German visual artist who is best known for his simultaneous combination of painting, installation art and short films. Using representational objects such as old toys, industrial junk and other obsolete gadgets, he creates elaborate installations and art objects. At the same time, these objects are often the themes rendered on many of his oil canvases. Through his work, Michael Wiebach practices a certain form of modern archeology, through which modern technology is seen from the margin of its own waste.
