About The Artwork
The artwork is a 'mock hologram' installation comprising a plaster of paris statue base and a video projection. This piece was made especially for the British Museum. It was shown at the Museum's Late event on 8 June 2018. The piece represents a cyborg or artificial intelligence and is loosely based on the 11th century philosophers 'Floating Man 'thought experiment. The work contrasts human consciousness with the apparent absence of consciousness in artificial intelligence. It questions if the future of humans now hangs in a precarious balance and is inextricably linked to our technological advancements.
