Art Description

Installation: Paper on Paper.

This artwork is created by layering multiple layer of hand crafted Japanese paper with Japanese colors on the base paper with acrylic, watercolor pen and color pencil to finish.

"Akane-iro" is deep yellowish red dyed by root of madder which naturally grows on mountains and wild field in Japan. Since the root is red, the plant was named "Akane (red root)." This is the color of the sunset sky at twilight. Very beautiful sunset is seen especially on fall thanks to clear air.

Created the artwork by imagining a "happy message" from the sinking sun in that madder red.
