Hello! My name is Larisa. I create mosaic-pictures based on the subjects of well-known painters. A mosaic-pictures can set off any interior - it will draw your eyes again and again and be a pleasure to you and your guests for many years. Moreover this is an excellent and luxurious present for your relatives, friends and collegues. What technique do I use? I use a technique which is called "artistic cutting" (or "Byzantine cutting") - I work with it more than 5 years. It consists in cutting every glass piece manually. I choose a form for each piece, cut it and apply. To have a good result the form, the color and the surface of the glass piece should perfectly continue the whole picture. It happens that I create some picture parts (even insignificant) for several days - disassembling and assembling a mosaic-picture again. Why is this different form a traditional mosaic? As every glass piece is cut manually, every mosaic is unique, every picture stays the one and only. Even if I want to create similar mosaic-picture I will never create the same, it will be different, because it's impossible to create identic tracery. What materials do I use? Semi-transparent and non-transparent stained glass. Non-transparent stained glass - so called "muffled" - has a great artistic potential. When watching the side thrust of such glass one can see that it consists of many layers. It makes the glass deep and refine and enrichs the whole picture. It is that effect which lets perceive the same mosaic-picture differently: every time watching it at various lighting it looks a little different. Of cause, no photo can transfer all nuances... Stained glass is not afraid of heat, cold, UV-rays, chemicals. Smalt has nothing on color richness of mosaics.
