This work was done in 2021 and is one of the key pieces of the series "Nothing New Under The Sky?". Its creation arises from the need to mark the beginning of existence (an act without a trace of memory, but present in the memory of others) as a grand and central event for the beginning of our experiments. As its realization was conditioned to the space of my studio, the idea of fixed and voluminous constructions was unfeasible. So I resorted to the solution of an installation using a long strip of aluminum mesh, previously unraveled and later arranged around itself, suspended from the wall by a long and thin tulle ribbon that also occupies the floor space. The work acquires in space the shape and volume that resemble a vulva with its numerous threads converging towards the center of the piece - the emptiness of the floor. This situation also proposes the expectation of an outbreak or expulsion of something, not yet "materialized", evoking the concepts related to the title of the work - time, emergence and sacredness of the act of being born.

I am born in Lisbon in 1960 and I live and work in Palmela. My academic formation, was decisive for my work as a visual artist, once it gave me a better understanding of Space and its mutation in Time, as well as the desire for exploration and experimentation of new materials, I started to make exhibitions as a painter in 96. Over the years, I developed my work through visual and written research on contemporary art. In 2011, I abandoned painting, and I started to investigate human perception of visual elements, within the transparent bi dimensional supports. Now I'm looking for their relationship in sculpture. The main influences in my work, come from observation of nature ( mainly the human nature), the reading of philosophical authors, and a special friendship, with the painter Fernando Calhau. This association of factors in conjunction with intuition and experience, has transforme my first contents of work, in poetic thoughts of philosophical nature, formalize more and more in the sum of many subtractions.
