Since 2010 Ruslan Kolmykov has been working in his own unique technique, invented in the process of experimenting with materials and forms. In search of unusual idioms, the artist has brought to life his childhood fantasies by means of connecting the dots and lines, seen in a book on constellations and the sky of stars. Combining graphics and installation, the author creates works, which have no analogues. Screw nails, screwed into wooden panels, being the basis for the thread stretched between them, create the image with strokes and lines, appearing and intertwining with the desired intensity and rhythm. The works come to life in different planes, the play of light and shadows adds volume, they are visually light and airy, despite the materials. The artist creates works that perfectly fit into modern home interior, working or public space, using and combining unusual materials, such as nails, wire, metal, thread, stones, screws, wood, objects, seemingly unrelated to art. Each work or series of works contains meaning and author’s positive message, transferred to the space. Whether the work depicts an abstract composition, an image or a realistic portrait – the work is full of energy, which is difficult to see in the photograph. Ruslan Kolmykov’s works reside in the private collections of connoisseurs of modern art in different countries. Today the author works in Ukraine and Belarus. The author also actively creates art objects, installations, furnishings, street art, land art projects, using nontypical materials and means of depiction. Reflecting on the theme of ecology, relationships, feelings, historical events and personalities, mixing and conveying my messages to the world - I bring my vision onto the surface of the pictures. The viewer's attention is drawn by the image detached from the surface and by the technical complexity of the work, that consists of the simplest objects, united and animated.
