Not a painting, but cotton thread patiently and meticulously glued to a wood panel. A one-of-a kind art piece that will brighten your mood and add a pop of colour to the environment it finds a permanent home in. The smallest piece from the Squares collection. Not only aesthetically pleasing, this piece hides three patterns. If you inspect it closely, you might find them. Nineteen colours, displayed on nine squares, created 0.03 of an inch thick thread. It takes a great deal of patience to create something like this. I do hope you appreciate it. The story behind my pieces: When I was a young child, my grandmother would use this type of thread for embroidery. I was fascinated by the world she would create out of those simple and colourful threads. I never learned how to do embroidery though, but I did borrow some of her threads and brought them back home with me, without having an idea of what I would do with them. One day, I decided to try and glue them on something, so I asked my father, who would always have a handy solution for everything, for a piece of wood. He brought me a few tens of 1.5x1.5 inches wood squares he had cut from a log. They were all blank, staring at me. So I took my grandma's threads and started glueing them to the wood squares, creating colourful brooches that I would later try to sell at artisan fairs and online. I would always try to use unexpected colour combinations, playing with contrasts. Fast forward many years later, I decided to try to use the same technique on much larger pieces of wood or plywood.
