Abandoned Sacrifice Artwork

As with most photography shoots, this was a discovery process and not conceived ahead of time. The prop horns had been given to me by a friend and waited till now to be used. What does it mean to feel abandoned? What does it mean to sacrifice oneself for something? Those were the questions that arose during the creation of this piece. As with all of my work this is traditionally printed darkroom photographs mounted to a wood panel with oil paint applied overtop and then removed to create a hybrid of both a photograph and oil painting. Though of all of my works, the oil is specifically minimalist in this since I very much wanted this to be almost entirely about the photograph. It was this image that led me to be commissioned to create a nine piece original series for the upcoming movie Magnum Opus directed by Kevin Elliot.
