ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Typically for my work, I travel and explore with my camera to shoot the material that comprises my work. That wasn't possible during the lockdowns of 2020. Bunyjal comes from a simple place - the need to create and noticing that some protea flowers out front of a florist on my daily exercise looked like scales. A frill-neck lizard had been on my to-do like for essentially forever. I picked some of these flowers and rigged up a simple light studio on my kitchen bench and shot the flowers from different angles under controlled light.
