About The Artwork
Between 2016-2019 (during a time of much consternation nationally) I made a series of "Face" tapestries. The challenge was to use a simple weaving technique to get as much expression in the face as possible. No smiles emerged, but every emotion, from pensiveness to outrage, was explored in that period. This piece, "Convo on Green", is clearly a conversation between differing opinions, with some disdain. It is woven of heavy slubbed novelty yarn, chenille, and cotton floss for details. It hangs simply with grommets from two nails in the wall.
