ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Cours de maintien" is a title that is intended to be slightly ironic and which refers to the pose taken by the model: with an arm that forms a very marked elbow and a hand resting on the hip in an almost caricatural way, everything here is theatrical , artificial, like an imposed exercise to behave well in society... A classic pose, studied, which freezes a body treated with a mineral in brown tones that evoke as much 17th century Dutch painting as certain Mediterranean sculptures. This painting is a paintography, that is to say a unique piece made in mixed technique on canvas which combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (many layers of transparent glaze and squares in relief). The painting is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 80 x 99 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
