I was inspired by the formal rigor of Expressionism and by the graphic reduction found in early woodcuts and in Art Deco; my intention was to transform an everyday motif into an iconic, almost emblematic form. The flower in the cup represents cultivated nature—tamed, framed, yet still alive—and at t...

Martin Minier was born in 1981 in Bayreuth, a city deeply rooted in cultural history and artistic tradition. Growing up in Bavaria, he was surrounded by a landscape shaped by contrasts: historical architecture and contemporary urban life, quiet rural areas and vibrant cultural spaces. These impressions played a formative role in the development of his visual sensitivity and artistic awareness. From an early age, Minier showed a strong interest in visual expression. Drawing, experimenting with colors, and observing light and form became natural parts of his everyday life. Alongside traditional artistic influences such as classical painting and photography, he was increasingly drawn to modern visual media, which later expanded his creative perspective. Transition to Digital Art While his early works were rooted in analog techniques, Martin Minier gradually shifted toward digital creation. A decisive moment came in 2012, when he began working intensively with the iPad as his primary artistic tool. What started as an experiment soon evolved into a long-term artistic commitment. The iPad offered Minier a direct, intuitive way of working—combining the immediacy of drawing with the flexibility of digital layers, textures, and color manipulation. Since then, it has functioned as a mobile studio, allowing ideas to be captured and developed anywhere, independent of time and place. Artistic Style and Range of Motifs Martin Minier’s work is characterized by a wide and diverse range of motifs. He deliberately avoids stylistic limitation, instead embracing artistic freedom and exploration. His subjects include: • Abstract compositions • Figurative elements • Landscapes, both urban and rural • Portraits and human studies • Surreal and atmospheric scenes • Experimental studies of color, light, and form His visual language often balances structure and spontaneity. Layers, contrasts, and textures play a central role, creating depth and emotional resonance. Subtle references to his Bavarian surroundings can be found throughout his work—reflected in muted color palettes, natural rhythms, and a sense of calm that contrasts with more dynamic digital elements. Technique and Printing Process Although Minier’s artworks are created entirely in digital form, the physical presentation is of great importance to him. Selected works are printed on high-quality photographic paper or sturdy photo cardboard, ensuring durability and precise color reproduction.
